Beer: That golden elixir of the god’s. Nothing goes better on a hot summer’s day (or a rainy winter/spring/summer/fall day in the Pacific Northwest) than a cold bottle of barley pop. The only question that remains is, “where do I get something not only unique, but refreshing to my tastes?” The answer is 99 Bottles in Federal Way. Located next to Blue Island Sushi and Jimmy Mac’s Roadhouse near the end of highway 18 and I-5, this store is Beer-vana for any hop-heads looking for a place to score some quality ice-cold-chilly-brew-ha-ha’s. This establishment is home to hundreds of bottles of beer spanning dozens of countries (their German beer section is truly impressive) and craft beers from throughout the PNW stored in 12 refrigerators. They also have a decent selection of Ciders available for those inclined to partake in that. Their dry section boasts a wide selection of beers ranging from IPA’s to Lagers to Barley Wine. The only mass-produced beer they sell is some of the more difficult to find Sam Adams beers. There are no Bud’s or Miller’s here (unless you count the Czech Budvar, which is quite tasty, unlike its American cousin).

A new attraction at the store is the installation of beer taps! They have plenty of growlers on hand to fill with their eclectic choice of microbrews. Their prices are relatively easy to swallow as they are comparable to the local supermarkets asking price for microbrews. The service is acceptable just be sure to get ahead of anyone purchasing a growler full of beer as it tends to take upwards of 10 minutes to fill one.

Overall the experience of purchasing quality micro/International brew from this store is hassle free and the help is very knowledgeable about the subject (most of them are home brewers with a beer fetish). If you are looking for something titillating to excite your beer taste buds, this is the place for you!
