Grow It, Eat It, Preserve It

Did you know that a typical carrot travels 1,838 miles to reach your dinner table? These “food miles” affect the freshness of our produce and give us fewer days to eat it before it spoils.

Plant a vegetable garden this year and enjoy the satisfaction of growing and eating your own food. You’ll waste less food and save money. You’ll even have fun along the way!

FREE WORKSHOPS JUMPSTART YOUR GARDEN
If you are new to growing fruit and vegetables, starting a garden may seem a bit overwhelming. Pierce and the Tacoma-Pierce County Community Garden Program are teaming up to offer the edible Garden series. This few series of workshops will walk you through the steps of choosing what you want to grow, how to grow it and how to make sure your bounty gets eaten.

The classes are scheduled monthly through October in Tacoma, Puyallup and Gig Harbor. Come to one or all of the Edible Garden classes and get growing!

For dates, times and locations visit Edible Garden Workshop Series or call 253.798.2179.
